LG Electronics Canada says its new Plasma HDTV series is the world’s first with built-in, high-definition digital video recorder , HD-DVR . The new PY2DR series adds the capability of recording up to 63 hours of digital standard-definition signals, or 13 hours of off-air digital high-definition programming via the 160 GB hard-disk embedded in the cabinet. The series is driven by LG’s proprietary XD Engine technology: the second-generation XD Engine chip is built into the unit to receive the low resolution of analog signals, and process them, thus improving brightness, contrast, detail, enhancing colour and reducing signal noise.
eLCOS Microdisplay Technology, Inc has announced it will demonstrate its high contrast eHD70 microdisplays at the Displaysearch HDTV Conference 2005 in Beverly Hills, CA, August 22 - 24, 2005. eLCOS will exhibit the microdisplays with a JDS Uniphase UltreX™ projection engine in a rear projection HDTV set.
